was one of several big announcements made by Blizzard at BlizzCon 2019, and along with the announcement for the hero shooter sequel also came some interesting details. For instance, the game will also have PvE story-focused content as opposed to just having a multiplayer component. Part of that is the new Hero missions, and during their BlizzCon panel, the developers went into detail about how they will function.
Described as “deeply replayable” missions that will offer content “night after night, week after week, year after year”, the Hero missions are designed to encourage players to experiment with every Hero in the game’s roster of over 30 playable characters. As opposed to the story missions – which have you playing as specific characters – Hero missions can be played as whomever you want, to get players to try out different characters and become more acclamitized to them and the way they play. The missions, in fact, will also have changing objectives, so in theory, they should offer dynamic and changing content on a regular basis.
is due out for the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch, but currently does not have a release date. Once its out, all the maps and characters included in it will also be available to players of the first game
, and players across both games will even be able to play against each other. Meanwhile, Overwatch
will be receiving at least one new hero before the sequel launches. Read more on that through here
