NFL Kickoff starts the season with one of the league's top rivalry games.

NFL football games that count have been gone since the Super Bowl in February. With apologies to Joan Jett and Carrie Underwood, we've been waiting half the year for football at night! You can still watch these games even if you've cut cable and taken away its playbook. Let's review the games, and learn how to stream NFL Sunday Night Football if you've cut the cord.

Since 2004, the NFL season has begun with a special NFL Kickoff game. This game is usually held the Thursday after Labor Day, and because NFL TV rights contracts are strange, this Thursday night NFL Kickoff game is part of NBC's "Sunday Night Football".

Sunday Night Football is the marquee game slot of the NFL week, and it usually features the biggest games. The NFL makes the schedule this way because they know this is usually the highest rated of all TV programs each week. Another big reason this game has the best matchups is that starting in week 5, the NFL can flex, or move, great games from Sunday afternoon into Sunday Night Football. If you see only one game each week, make it this one. NBC is the current home of Sunday Night Football.

The NFL Kickoff Special for 2019 is on Thurs., Sept. 5 at 8:20 p.m. The Green Bay Packers will travel to the Windy City to play their rival Chicago Bears. The Bears won the NFC North last season with a 12-4 record, finishing the regular season by winning nine of their last ten games. But they split the series against the Packers, who had a down year finishing 6-9-1. A big reason for that disappointing season was Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who had his worst season as a pro. Still, Rodgers' worst year is better than many NFL passers at their best, so don't expect the Pack to be down for long.

Watch Brett Farve chat Packers and Da Bears with SNL's Bill Swerski Superfans.

Sunday Night Football kicks off at 8:20 p.m. Sept. 8 when the Pittsburgh Steelers face the New England Patriots in Foxborough, Mass. The 2018 Pats, 11-5 in the regular season, won the Super Bowl. I know; I am just as surprised as you. Tom Brady had another quality season, and the team did just enough in every situation to find a way to keep winning. The Pittsburgh Steelers return as a year where they fell short of the playoffs at 9-6-1, but they did score a late season win over the Patriots last December. The Steelers look very different this year, with star wide receiver Antonio Brown now with the Raiders.

You won't want to miss a moment of either of these NFL games if you are a football fan. Here are your options on how to stream the NFL Kickoff game and Sunday Night Football without cable.
